Bob S ★ 5 · Oct 2025
"Hobie" was by far the friendliest, most helpful and knowledgeable camp hosts we've ever met! He gave us great info on hikes and paddling, was flexible on our campsite choice, and kept the facilities cleaner than I've seen at any campground. He seemed to treat everyone with the same positive attitude, quite refreshing to see. We liked the location, paddling on the lake, hiking options nearby, beauty in the surrounding area.
Caleb L ★ 5 · Sep 2025
Super clean, the camp host was awesome. Beautiful location. The water was off but we were warned and it was no big deal to bring some extra. Awesome experience all around.
Gus V ★ 2 · Sep 2025
Our campsites designated no. Was changed. We were now in a different site. But because the camp was mostly empty the camp host said switching to our original location was OK. A big camp like this and no available potable water is a disgrace. Turn the system on.

About

Silver Lake East sits at about 7,200 feet on the north end of a 200-acre granite-basin lake, backed by Thunder Mountain and a mixed-conifer forest. The campground's 39 sites are arranged around meadows and a small central pond that attracts ducks the pond isn't visible from the campsites, but wildflowers and open views make the area feel airy and alpine in summer. Trails leave directly from the campground to lakeshores and swimming beaches; the Granite Lake Trail (which begins at the Minkalo trailhead on Silver Lake's east shore) climbs across Squaw Creek on a wooden bridge, splits toward Plas…
