No pets: Camp Richardson Resort (RV Village, Badger's Den, Eagle's Nest) has a strict no pet policy, Meeks Bay Resort allows no pets anywhere, and Emerald Bay's Boat Camp doesn't allow dogs. [USDA Forest Service][Recreation.gov][California State Parks]

Campgrounds whose agency, operator or Recreation.gov page says dogs or pets are allowed in the campground. "Campground only" means dogs are banned from that park's beaches or trails. Campgrounds that ban pets are listed below, not in the table. Distances are straight-line. Official facts checked 2026-10-18; listing facts update with each feed refresh.

California State Parks vs Forest Service rules

California State Parks: dogs are not allowed on beaches or dirt trails, and must be leashed and never unattended. At D.L. Bliss they're allowed in developed areas only; at Emerald Bay only in the campground area; at Sugar Pine Point on a 6-ft leash on paved areas and in the campground. [California State Parks][California State Parks][California State Parks]

Donner Memorial is the exception: dogs on a six-foot leash may use the Lakeside Interpretive Trail, Zig Zag Trail, fire roads and the Donner Lake shore (not China Cove Beach). [California State Parks]

Forest Service campgrounds: leashed pets are allowed at Fallen Leaf; Nevada Beach and Zephyr Cove allow them in the campground but not on the beach; William Kent allows two pets per site and none on beaches. [USDA Forest Service][USDA Forest Service][USDA Forest Service][USDA Forest Service]

Nevada State Parks: pets must be on a leash of six feet or less at Spooner; at Sand Harbor pets are allowed only October 15 to April 15. [Nevada State Parks][Nevada State Parks]
