Luis E ★ 5 · Oct 2025No hook-ups at all, but the campsites along the water are absolutely stunning! There’s plenty of space between sites, and everyone we met was super friendly. But when they say there are bears in the campsite — believe them! There are bears in the campsite!
Hector M ★ 5 · Oct 2025Beautiful campground. Even though there are a lot of sites and they can be close to each other, I still enjoyed my stay there. Plenty of toilets and water stations. Host was very helpful.
Richard K ★ 5 · Oct 2025The site was kind slanted near the firepit, and it wasn't great for sitting. Lots of tent pad sites. A bit of a walk to t he bathroom. On the edge of the campground, so pretty quiet, we had no either side of us, but noise does carry and people somewhere were partying late. Using Rec.gov was quick and easy, as is usually the case.

Logger Campground sits on the south shore of Stampede Reservoir in the Tahoe National Forest, about a half-hour drive from Truckee. The site is shaded by a mix of ponderosa and Jeffrey pines and firs, with sagebrush dotting the forest floor and the reservoir's open water just steps away. Stampede is a working recreational reservoir on the Little Truckee River, so water-based activities dominate here: a boat ramp and trailer parking are available less than a mile from the campground, and the reservoir sees regular boating, water skiing, swimming and bank fishing for rainbow and brown trout and …
