Gates Group Campground sits along the North Fork American River at the north end of French Meadows Reservoir, about 40 miles from Foresthill and surrounded by a conifer forest at roughly 5,200 feet. The campground consists of three group campsites (total campsites: 3), and all three are configured to accommodate both RVs and tents. Two of those group sites each hold up to 25 people and eight vehicles; the larger group site can hold up to 75 people and 25 vehicles.
